Our Riding Lessons

Fundamentals of Riding is a 3-month program that delves into the fundamentals of English riding. Participants will learn to master a balanced riding position and begin to grow their confidence in the sport of riding. To ensure optimal learning and skill development, participants should dedicate 1-2 hours per week to their riding lesson. This dedicated time allows for thorough instruction, practice, and personalized feedback while nurturing a unique connection with your assigned horse.

Fundamentals of Care helps riders explore the rationale behind grooming techniques, including basic methods for maintaining a healthy coat and identifying potential health concerns. Participants will also learn proper saddling and unsaddling, as well as best practices for ensuring a horse’s well-being, including blanketing strategies, nutritional considerations, and the importance of regular farrier and veterinary care.

Following Fundamentals of Riding Part 1, students can register for Fundamentals of Riding Part 2. This program will help participants execute controlled circles and serpentines at a walk, demonstrating proper application of aids and utilizing appropriate muscle groups. For riders seeking additional challenges, introductory trotting on the lunge line under instructor supervision may be available, focusing on balance and basic trot mechanics. Students will also be able to confidently join an instructor to retrieve their assigned horse from the pasture and apply learned techniques to safely and efficiently tack up their horse before riding and ensure proper untacking after the lesson.
